9 tasks to add to your Sunday routine for a productive week

9 productive tasks to add to your sunday routine

Ah, Sunday. The final day of the weekend. The most opportune day to prepare for a long week. Although my ideal Sunday generally involves wearing pajamas and doing a whole lot of nothing, I feel pretty great when I get some productive tasks done during my day.

Here are some productive tasks worth adding to your Sunday routine.

1. Clean your makeup brushes and commonly messy surfaces.

By the end of two weeks, my vanity is overflowing with palettes and there’s makeup powder on everything. I do this on more of a biweekly basis.

The surfaces I typically clean are my nightstand, which gets covered in earrings and random papers, my vanity which, as I mentioned, gets overloaded with makeup, and the ottoman in my room with endless piles of clothes.

2. Make your plans for the week.

Reach out to anyone you’d like to see so you can better map out your week. It’s better to do this at the beginning of your week so everyone’s (most likely) more available. Plus, you can figure out what your week will look like.

3. Meal prep… or prepare lunch for the next day.

Listen, meal prep can be daunting. And, sometimes it’s not a way you want to spend your Sunday. So, at the very least you might want to prepare Monday’s lunch, whether you’re making a sandwich or cooking up a batch of pasta for dinner that can be eaten leftover for lunch.

4. Clean out your daily purse/backpack.

It doesn’t need to be a deep clean, but tossing the gum wrappers and lipsticks you’ve collected during the week is an easy way to keep your bag’s clutter fairly manageable.

5. Do laundry and actually put it all away.

This is especially important if you, like me, let piles of clothes build up on your dresser and floor. Hang up your dresses and put all of your clothes away.

6. Watch something from your to-watch list.

Sunday doesn’t have to be all chores and important tasks. Sometimes setting aside time to watch that movie or episodes of a TV series you’ve been putting off can be a lovely reward and way to unwind.

Lately, I’ve really been enjoying “The Leftovers” and “Desperate Housewives.”

7. Put library books on hold.

This is, of course, if you use the library. I read library books each day and constantly put them on reserve so I always have new books to pick up. Sunday is a great time to update my list. It’s free and there are so many books to choose from.

If you don’t really utilize the library but do enjoy reading, definitely look into getting a library card. Totally worth it.

8. Tackle pet-related chores.

Since I adopted kittens, this has become part of my routine. This typically just includes cleaning their litterbox and, once a month, doing a deep clean of the litterbox. It also includes trying to find all of the catnip mice they’ve ostensibly lost by the end of the week (they’re typically under the couch, inside shoes, and under the oven).

No matter what pet you have, Sundays are a great time to take on some petcare related tasks.

9. Plan your outfits for the week… or for Monday.

Again, it depends on just how ambitious you’re feeling. When doing this, check the weather app. While it’s not always accurate, it can help you get a general feel for how much you’ll need to bundle up.
