How to Save Money When Buying Gifts

love gift giving and I especially love doing it without spending a bunch of money. There are a lot of ways to save money on gifts without skimping on the gift itself and I often take advantage of these. In fact, I usually start my Christmas shopping in October so I have plenty of time to hunt down the perfect present and get it at a great price. It also minimizes stress levels in December where I’ve already got my birthday, my final exams, final projects and other holiday-related things to worry about.

When it comes to gift giving it’s certainly not about what you pay for it…but paying less than you need to could never hurt. Here are some ways to save money on gifts this holiday season!

My Senior Year College Bucket List

Senior Year Bucket List for College - College Bucket List // eyeliner wings and pretty things

I am fairly awful at bucket lists. In fact, I touched upon it in my 19 things before 20 (revisited) post, where I essentially said I am garbage at creating vague, bucket-list-y lists and checking them off because I change my mind so often and have no idea what I want to do.

So, naturally, I created a senior year bucket list for my last year of college. I’m simply brilliant at sticking to what I say! But, my senior year bucket list is much more concrete and simplified. Plus, virtually everything on it is actually doable in the amount of time I have left of my senior year. In fact, I’ve already checked off a large chunk of the list. Here are just a few of the things on my senior year bucket list (most of them were food or coffee related but I’ve left them off because they’re super specific).

How to Take Control of Your Life

How to Take Control of Your Life - Taking Control of Your Life // eyeliner wings & pretty things

My desk is almost to the point of being unusable. I am typing with my laptop dangling off of the edge with my arm leaning on a notebook. The notebook is filled with a list of ways I might be able to add another minor to my plate in my last semester of senior year. My desk is also full of six sticky notes with reminders and notes to myself, my planner, a to-do list, another to-do list, two bananas, a master to-do list, a journal, an open textbook with the reading assignment not yet completed, two workouts I printed but have not done, a magazine, a night cream sample and a mirror, which also has a sticky note stuck to it, reminding me to do laundry.

With all of that being said, and wow, it’s a lot, I feel like I’m seriously taking control of my life. These past few weeks have been incredibly busy and overwhelming, but I feel powerful. The upcoming weeks are no better. Taking control of your life doesn’t always mean having a clean desk, an empty calendar and everything figured out. In fact, that’s a rare thing in life. Chaos can’t necessarily be avoided, but taking control of your life can certainly make managing the chaos a lot easier. Here are a few ways to do just that.

How to be Charismatic & Charming

How to be Charismatic & Charming - How to be Popular // ew & pt

When I was writing this post, I toyed with calling it: How to be Popular. Then I sort of cringed because “popular” has such a negative connotation. What does it even mean? I find that it’s far more important to be charismatic, friendly and overall just a fun person to be around. Really, if you pick apart the aspects of being “popular,” the desirable ones are the charisma and charm! It’s not necessarily about how many people you know and have in your life, it’s mostly about how you make those people feel and how you connect with them.

I was inspired by this because I’m on the board of a club on campus, which means interacting with a lot of freshman and general members of the club. I’ve been more charismatic than ever and it’s not only made me feel great but also it’s helped me make connections with people.
