Fall Wardrobe Essentials

Fall Wardrobe Esentials // eyelinerwings&prettythings

I’m pretty sure autumn is my favorite season. I’m a huge lover of jeans and the fall colors like black, burgundy and khaki green and they’re definitely my favorite colors to wear. Nothing brings me more joy than boots and cozy sweaters–plus, the falling leaves are absolutely gorgeous.

Also, all of the bugs of summer start to disappear which is a fantastic bonus. Anyways, here are some fall wardrobe essentials that your autumn style would be ~incomplete~ without!…

1. Riding Boots

These keep you much warmer than regular, ankle boots and they’re very stylish. They look fabulous with a pair of dark wash jeans or black leggings tucked into them. I also mentioned these in 10 Pairs of Shoes Every College Girl Needs–they’re definitely a staple shoe!

2. A Flannel Shirt

Flannels look wonderful tied around the waist. They’re the perfect accessory–if it’s hot, tie it around your waist and if it’s cold then wear it like a jacket. You can also wear it buttoned up or unbuttoned with a tank top underneath. Versatile. Red is the most obvious and standard color of flannel shirt, but blue is another favorite.

3. Mid-Weight Jacket

For when it’s cold but not that cold. My favorite mid-weight jackets are military-style jackets, but denim jackets are also a great choice. Both are versatile and can stylishly warm up any outfit.

4. Dark Wash Skinny Jeans

I’m a firm believer that nothing is more flattering and versatile than dark wash skinny jeans. They can be dressed up with a blazer or dressed down with a T-shirt, you can literally create any outfit with these babies.

5. Beanies

This is, of course, if you have a head that looks good with beanies. Some people hate their heads in beanies in which case, an ear-warmer might look cute on you. An ear-warmer is basically a knit headband that keeps your ears toasty and looks cute without being a hat (they’re probably not called ear-warmers though). Anyways, beanies are incredibly versatile. I recommend a nice cream colored beanie if you have dark hair–it matches most outfits. A black beanie looks fantastic with blonde or light hair and, once again, matches everything. Gray is also a wonderful color for beanies.

6. Patterned Tights

These are the EASIEST way to add a fun pop to a look. These are great for transitioning your skirts and dresses into autumn. Pair the dress with an unbuttoned flannel/cardigan/denim jacket, some patterned tights and ankle boots and you are set.

7. Chunky Knit Cardigan

Perfect for layering! I like chunky knit cardigans because they can easily be tossed on over leggings and a shirt to make an extremely cozy outfit.

8. Patterned Flats

Personally I believe flats were crafted by some devilish beast who hates feet. They hurt, but they are super cute. They also look absolutely adorable with skinny jeans or a dress. Leopard is a cute print that’s neutral and adds a fun element to any outfit.
