6 Time Saving Hacks To Speed Up Your Morning Routine

6 Time Saving Hacks To Speed Up Your Morning Routine // eyeliner wings & pretty things

Are you one of those people who has to set their alarm extra early to be on time? Are you often late for class or work because of your morning slump? Are you sick of sacrificing sleep when all you really need a streamlined morning routine? Are you sick of all of these questions?

Well, ladies and gents, these time saving hacks are going to help speed up your morning routine in no time. They might not make you a morning person, but your mornings are about to get much easier!

1.) Lay out your outfit the morning before.

This is an obvious and simple one that will save you so much time. Check tomorrow’s weather on your Weather app and plan accordingly. Place your outfit (and accessories, have you seen my post on the best places to buy inexpensive ones?) on your desk or nightstand so you can jump out of bed and get dressed.

2.) Pre-plan your breakfasts.

There are a ton of overnight oats recipes that leave you with a ready-made breakfast in the fridge. If you plan on eating a granola bar or piece of fruit, no need to plan. If you want to eat something like toast, put it in the toaster and then go do something else! Don’t waste time standing in front of the toaster. While your coffee is brewing, do your make up. While your toast is toasting, get dressed. Catch my drift? Never just be standing and waiting.

3.) Set an alarm.

This is also super obvious, but know yourself. If you know you’re going to hit snooze once or twice, set your alarm extra early. If you know you’re going to sleepily shut off your alarm and curl back to bed, place your phone on the other side of the room so you have to get up to shut it off. If you wake up quickly to an alarm, set it for the perfect time and get out of bed without checking social media.

4.) Check social media WHILE you eat breakfast.

Rather than laying in bed and checking your Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, etc, do it while you eat breakfast. Multitasking in this way will save you time and vow to only be on social media until your breakfast is finished. Once you finish your toast, exit your apps.

5.) Keep track of your time using the Stopwatch on your phone.

You know the stopwatch app on your phone? Use it! For a week straight I timed my makeup routine on the stopwatch and kept the times on the stopwatch. I averaged them together and figured out just about how long it took me to do my make up. I realized it took me less time than I thought and I could set my alarm a little bit later. Use the stopwatch for your morning routine and make it a challenge to yourself–can you get ready in 30 minutes? If you do this, be sure to give yourself extra time just in case you figure out you can’t get ready in 30.

6.) Become a night showerer.

I’ve always been a night showerer, it’s seriously the best. Going to bed freshly cleaned and fresh is the best feeling! I hate waking up extra early so I can shower–and don’t even get me started on having to blow dry and style my hair in the morning! No thank you! Showering at night will save you so much time for your morning routine, I definitely recommend it.

While I definitely try to follow these rules, sometimes I just sleepily throw on my make up and grab an outfit from my closet without batting an eye. We’re all only human! What’s in your morning routine?
