Essence Cosmetics Review: Silky Touch Blush + Lip Liner Reviews & Swatches

Essence Silky Touch Blush & Lip Liner Review + Swatches // EW&PT

Disclaimer: These products were sent to me for free, but all of my opinions are my own, as always!

I was lucky enough to be able to receive a few products from essence cosmetics, one of my favorite cosmetic brands, to review and I’m super excited. I’ve used a few of their products in the past and have been very impressed with their high quality for the low price.

I was going to do a super long post with all of the products (like I did with my elf Cosmetics Haul), but decided that bite sized bits of reviews and swatches might be better. So, here is my essence cosmetics review and swatches of  Silky Touch Blushes and  Lip Liners.

I received three lip liners in the shades Wish Me A Rose 010, Red Blush 08 and Satin Mauve 06. I’ve been on a quest lately for the best lip liner and these are definitely a contender. I wasn’t sure I would like the classic pencil tip, but the texture was actually very smooth and creamy!

The liners glided on and had great pigmentation–the staying power was also a good few hours. I also like that these can easily be sharpened because they are a wooden pencil–a lot of retractable lip liners end up with a flat tip and that can be difficult to work with.

I would even wear these on their own without layering something over it–the shade Wish Me A Rose 010 matched my lips perfectly–it’s like the “My Lip Color But Better” shade for me and I’m very pleased.

Red Blush is also gorgeous. I was hoping to use it to line my lips for a red lip but I realized it mixes with my natural lip color to become a very berry tone. It’s a gorgeous color, nonetheless, but the name doesn’t suit it. It’s more of a berry than a red which is great for me–berry lips are my favorite.

Satin Mauve is a pretty color, but I don’t think it’s for me. Once again, the name and packaging doesn’t quite match the swatch color, Satin Mauve turned out to be more of an ashy rose/peach. My fair skin plus this dusty shade is totally corpse-like, but it would definitely look great with a darker skin tone or layered with a different lip color!

Pros: Simple application, can be sharpened, very creamy texture

Cons: Names and packaging aren’t always too accurate when it comes to the actual color, but this is a minor con.

These blushes absolutely live up to their name! They have such a silky and soft texture and they glide on very smoothly. I’d owned one of these before, and loved it, so essence sent me two new shades!

They sent me 20 Baby Doll, which is a very muted and dusty light pinkish brown and 60 Life’s A Cherry  which is a super bright coral shade. I was very excited to try these because I think blushes are the type of product I own the least of. I’ve never been a blush addict because my paleness makes me afraid to be adventurous with blush colors.

I really liked Babydoll, it was my favorite shade by far! It is absolutely perfect for fair skin like mine and it gave me the perfect subtle glow. It definitely does have a porcelain doll sort of effect with my skin, which I guess matches the color name.

The biggest surprise I had about these is: THEY ARE SO PIGMENTED. Seriously, without blending, the Life’s A Cherry shade makes me look like I have scarlet fever or something. I underestimated how bright and pigmented these would be and I’m so impressed. Truthfully, I don’t think this color will get much use on me because I’m scared of the pigmentation with my skin tone, but I think this color would look amazing on my friends with darker skin tones.

The more muted shade is definitely my speed with my fair skin and freckles, but the bright coral shade would look AMAZING on darker skin!

Pros: Very soft texture, great pigmentation

Cons: Life’s A Cherry can be difficult to blend, but when blended it works well. Baby Doll can be too easy to blend, but it is a very great and light shade.

Here’s a quick look I did using Silky Touch Blush “Babydoll” and Lip Liner “Red Blush.” Doesn’t the lip liner have a neutral berry look? I filled in my lips with it and really liked the shade. I also used essence’s Brow Gel, which I have used in many beauty looks including My Green MOTD for The Carvan Girl In The City Event.

Honestly, though, I do not have enough great things to say about essence cosmetics! They have fantastic customer service, smart packaging and great quality at a very, very low price. Essence is alongside Nyx Cosmetics for my favorite beauty brand.

They also sent me two other products, but I’m going to save them for a later post! Hope you enjoyed this.

Have you tried any of essence beauty’s products?

2 Thoughts on “Essence Cosmetics Review: Silky Touch Blush + Lip Liner Reviews & Swatches

  1. ‘Wish Me A Rose’ is super pretty bUT YES, ESSENCE’S BLUSHES ARE HELLA PIGMENTED. To the point that though ‘Life’s a Cherry’ is a gorgeous shade, I don’t use it too often b/c blending = effort, and ain’t nobody got time fo’ that. Both look great on you, so definitely dabble more in blushes! (Of all the things, I hoard those the most, so I’m probs biased)

But yeah, I own like, four of Essence’s blushes, and some of their mascaras are quite wonderful too

    • Yes, they’re so pigmented! Same, haha, I’m a fan of minimal effort blending and thank you! Haha, your blog definitely has inspired me to venture in blushes ;D
