The BEST Dark Drugstore Lipsticks

The BEST Drugstore Dark Lipsticks - eyeliner wings & pretty things

One of the best things about fall is the fact that dark lipstick is back on trend. Personally, I love the perfect dark lip and it can be the perfect va-va-voom to any beauty look. While many doubt their ability to pull off this daring and vampy trend, anyone can pull off the dark lip–you just have to have the right shade.

So, my friends, here are some of the best dark drugstore lipstick colors for those who want to look trendy for fall and not spend a ton of money to do it!

1. Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Matte Collection Lipstick, 105 – This shade is such a creamy and smooth dark burgundy color with a slight berry undertone. It’s matte and goes on so beautifully–seriously obsessed!

2. Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream, Copenhagen – I mention this all of the time and raved about it in my Nyx soft matte lip cream swatches post–clearly I’m in love. This is the PERFECT vampy shade for autumn! It’s such a smooth formula and doesn’t go on patchy. While it is a tiny bit drying, it stays on for the longest time and it’s this stunning berry shade.

3. Revlon Color Stay Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain, Crush – This semi-sheer lip stain is perfect for anyone who loves the vampy lip trend but isn’t quite ready to commit. This shade is very build-able, so you can choose how intense you get! It’s not matte, it’s warm toned and it’s moisturizing.

4. Wet n Wild Megalast Lip Color, Sugar Plum Fairy – This was my first vampy lipstick and it was so cheap. It’s less than $5 and it LASTS FOREVER. It’s a plum and berry sort of shade. While it can be a nightmare for dry or flaky lips, it’s such a gorgeous and deep matte berry shade that survives eating and drinking. It’s incredibly impressive.

5. Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color, Burgundy Blush – This one is a cult classic. Okay, yeah, it’s another matte one, I know–but I’m such a fan of matte lip colors! Of all of the shades, this color is the most reddish shade of them all. It’s not quite berry, but it’s still a deep and gorgeous shade.

  1. I have NYX Copenhagen and like it, as long as I really hydrate my lips before I wear it! Another dark drugstore lipstick I really like is Revlon’s Black Cherry…I had read so much about it on other blogs and it took me forever to track down. However, it was totally worth it!

    • Totally–it can be a little drying but the color is gorgreous. Revlon’s black cherry has been on my wishlist for ages–it’s so hard to find!

  2. This is the perfect guide. I love dark lipstick and unfortunately I can’t buy all of Kat Von Ds new lips stains. The Wet N Wild looks right up my alley – that’s my next pick for sure.

    • Kat Von D’s lipstains are gorgeous–definitely looking to try some but moneywise, Wet n Wild is an amazing color at such a fair price 🙂
