How to do more good this year, great habits to add into your busy life

I work full-time, which means I am not always able to make time for everything I want to do.

It also means that I have to figure out ways to incorporate goodness into my daily life, whether it’s combining running errands with hanging out with friends (trip to Walmart + then brunch, anyone?) or sprinkling in a few delightful deeds and choices into each day.

Here are some easy ways to incorporate some good into your busy life.

8 tips for making smart purchases in college

Guide to making smart purchases in college - being money smart in college / ew & pt

After I graduated from college I moved my wardrobe from the tiny dorm closet to my slightly-less-tiny at-home bedroom closet. Then, I started an internship in the media world. Then, I got hired full-time as an associate editor. The past year has really been a time of transition.

And this year is when I really began to realize how much wardrobe needed to grow up and I found myself falling out of love with the polka-dot minidresses, shimmery tops, and fun T-shirts I’d worn the hell out of in college. I also found myself reaching for the same pieces every morning as I got ready for work … they were ones I’d worn a lot in college that actually ~grew up with me~ because they were sophisticated but fun.

So, in time for back-to-school season, here are some of my tips for making purchases that’ll actually grow with you from college classes to young-adult life in the working world. Plus, a great deal for some of my favorite items from the Candie’s collection at Kohl’s.

How to make sharing your opinion easier - tips for speaking up / ew & pt
I have an opinion on just about everything. I have a favorite flavor of M&M’S candies (and a mental ranking of my top five. crunchy and pretzel are tied for first!), I have a favorite nail polish, lipstick, pair of boots … I even have a favorite EYE (the right one).I have an opinion on how Harry Potter should’ve really ended, on whether or not tarot cards are legitimately useful, etc.
And so, I love taking surveys and voting for things. It’s basically sharing your opinion to people who totally want it. I’m also a huge proponent of trying new things and letting it be known how I feel about them. And, of course, considering I run a blog and have almost 100,000 tweets on Twitter, I clearly love sharing my thoughts and doing so comes quite easily to me.

But for some people, sharing one’s opinions and thoughts doesn’t come quite so easily. Here are some tips for sharing your opinion easily, openly, and in the best way possible.

Quick and easy post-grad full-time working girl makeup routine // ew & pt

Aside from adopting two kittens, one of the most major life changes I’ve experienced recently is starting to work full-time. Gone are the days of chunking all of my classes between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. and having swaths of free time in the afternoon! And I certainly miss those free afternoons. As much as I’m a morning person, I’m such an afternoon person. I love the middle of the day, especially when it’s nice out. There’s nothing quite like it and, now, five out of seven of my afternoons a week are spent in an office at work. Fortunately, I really like my job.

Unfortunately, I miss afternoons. That’s not all that’s changed. Another has certainly been my beauty routine! My makeup set up is now a vanity and lots of storage drawers combination whereas, in college, it was my-entire-desk-top and my top desk drawer. But my routine itself has changed, too.

Here’s how I’ve updated my makeup routine for post-grad, full-time job life.
