Every summer since I was seventeen has been spent at an internship in NYC. I love being busy and gaining experience was a priority for me. With each internship I’ve had I’ve made mistakes and grown. I’ve had summers with miserable lows and exciting highs and hopefully, you can avoid making the same intern mistakes I made.
So you found the internship but that’s only the first battle of the war. That sounded really ominous and intense but I’ve been watching Game of Thrones lately and I couldn’t think of a better metaphor. Basically, don’t be too comfortable. Yeah, they liked you enough to give you the internship, but you still need to prove yourself and make a good first impression.
Anyway, starting an internship is a very exciting and stressful time but these things to do before starting an internship will help you be a little more prepared and organized before you dive into the intern life!
I am incredibly sad that my first real NYC internship has come to an end. I interned at HauteSpotter (previously known as HauteTalk) and I absolutely loved it. NYC fashion internships seem super glamorous but tough, but let me give you some ~real insight~on them.
