How to Make the Most of Sundays in College

How to Make the Most of Sundays in College - Making the Most of Sundays in College For A Better Week

You might have already read my post, 8 Ways to Get The Most out of College” but now let’s talk about the start of the week…Sunday! The day of rest. The day before your week really begins. The day before the dreaded Monday (although personally, I don’t mind Mondays).

Sundays in college are often days of catching up with all of the homework you let pile up over the weekend, but it has the potential to be so much more. Here’s how to make the most of Sundays in college without losing your mind.

1. Create all necessary lists for the week.

For me, this includes homework to do lists, grocery shopping list, general to do list. Check each syllabus or class website to see which assignments are due during the week. Complete all of your Monday assignments and even some of your Tuesday assignments to save you stress down the line.

2. Change your pillowcase,

You should change your pillowcase more often than you probably are because pillowcases get really gross, but once a week can suffice. This is simple, but it’s nice to sleep on a fresh and clean pillowcase.

3. Meal plan and/or meal prep.

This isn’t always possible. BUT, if you can manage to prepare some meals or chop up some fruits and vegetables now, you’ll thank yourself later. My roommate and I often cook together so on Sunday we pull up our Pinterest meal boards, map out what we want to make for the week and when we can cook. We meal plan on Sundays because we go grocery shopping on Monday.

4. Have a big, wonderful brunch with friends.

There’s just something extra special about brunch on Sundays. Each person can contribute something and it’s a great way to catch up before the week begins and it’s harder to see everyone. This can be a really nice tradition, even if it’s just a monthly thing. Seriously, who would be opposed to a monthly brunch with friends?

If you assign one person to pancake or waffle duty, one to setting the table and pouring drinks, one to cooking eggs and one to cooking bacon/sausage you’ve got a lovely, full brunch.

5. Set some goals for the week.

know everyone is constantly telling you to set goals. Goals don’t need to be all that ambitious or wild. Seriously, my goal last week was to eat vegetables at least three times, apply to four internships and go to the gym twice. Adapt the goals to fit your schedule and your needs.

6. Check and update your planner/calendar.

This will help to remind you of what’s planned for the week ahead. It will also help you begin to organize the week in a nice way that’s laid out in front of you. If you’re extra, you can even color code and make it fabulous.

7. Call home.

Sunday is a great day to reconnect with your family and friends from home. While on the phone you can also make your bed, straighten up your room or even fold laundry. It’s a nice way to multitask while still completing some typical Sunday tasks.

8. Explore the area near your college.

I’d like to emphasize this for the second half of your college life. You won’t be in college forever, so try to make a point to explore local towns and hotspots when you can. Sunday is a great day for adventures (if you get your life together in advance).

Go on a hike. Grab food at a famous local sandwich place. Do something fun and make a Sunday memory.

  1. If I could go back to college, I would totally create lists – I felt like all of my to-do lists were done on the fly instead of done on Sundays with a lot of thought.
Great post! These are all really great tips! :]

  2. I used to get brunch every Sunday with one of my friends before she switched colleges. I miss it so much! It really was such a great tradition.
