Seasonal Beauty Hacks

5 seasonal beauty hacks
Each season brings its own unique set of beauty problems. The winter wind causes some seriously bad hair days, the summer sun causes sunburn and even spring brings plenty of allergies. With that being said, with each season comes a set of seasonal beauty hacks to help you conquer all of your beauty dilemmas!

Problem: Dry skin.

Solution: Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin MoisturizerThe great thing about this is you can apply it right after you step out of the shower and then you can dry yourself right off. Helloooo convenience! You don’t even need to wait for it to dry, just towel off as usual and carry on. Oh, yes, you did read that correctly. This moisturizer is applied to wet skin so it’s most effective. Ready for a basic science lesson? Of course you are! Beauty can be educational. So, post-shower your skin cells expand, which makes it easier for moisture to get in. It’s kind of like a sponge expanding when it’s wet, which makes it easy for Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer to soak in.

Plus, this lotion has ceramides (sounds fancy, right?), which are naturally present in the skin and make it healthy and soft, but when you lose them your skin dries up. Basically, it’s helping to keep your skin soft and healthy without leaving that greasy lotion slick behind. I found that this lotion, applied right after the shower to my wet skin, made a big difference in the appearance of my skin! My skin looks softer and well hydrated and it’s probably due to those ceramides. I’m excited to see the results over the next few months after daily use – I can only imagine how soft my skin will be.

Plus, here’s a fun little infographic highlighting key insights from a survey Curel conducted with 40 bloggers –myself included!

Problem: Chapped lips and red noses

Solution:  Apply some intensive lip balm or other intensive conditioner to your lips at night. The longer time allows the moisture to really sink in. This is a great thing for your sore nose as well, if your nose is rough or red from the cold.

It’s also helpful to use a lip scrub a few times a week. I love using a mix of olive oil and brown sugar for a DIY lip scrub.

Problem: Pale, dull complexion.

Solution: First of all, there’s nothing wrong with being pale! Except, it’s rude when someone asks if you’re sick or if you just saw a ghost (or are the ghost) because you’re so pale. As someone who is pale all-year round, I don’t really consider this a problem as much as this is my life.

If you’re reluctant to embrace the pale life, this is a problem you can easily solve by using a little bit of bronzer to liven up your face, or even with self-tanner if you’d like more of a consistent glow. Before using self-tanner, be sure to exfoliate and use a mitt when applying. Skip the tanning beds. Being pale or alternate methods of tanning are much nicer than potentially dying, wouldn’t you agree?

77 Thoughts on “Seasonal Beauty Hacks

  1. It never gets too cold down here in Florida, but when it does my skin gets super rough and dry. I’ve never heard of Curel; usually when my skin starts getting dry I just slather on petroleum jelly and leave it on overnight. Of course, that gets messy really quick, so I’ll look into Curel next time!

I’m also always looking for DIY beauty products, so thanks for you lip scrub recipe! Do you think it would still work with regular sugar instead of brown?

    • It works well, I like being able to apply it right after the shower 🙂

No problem! I’ve done it before with regular sugar and it worked pretty well, the only difference I noticed was that the brown sugar tasted better, though I guess taste isn’t a priority for a lip scrub haha

I put on a good dry skin lotion on my skin right after getting out of the shower. It helps me skin stay soft. I put foot lotion on my feet and then put socks on and sleep all night like this to help my feet stay soft. I drink a lot of water and take vitamins.

Fortunately our summers are very humid because my seasonal tip is to keep skin covered from the harsh weather elements. Wintertime is especially dry and my skin stays more protected because of all the layers of clothing I use. I also use plenty of moisturizer on those areas that do get exposed.
