So I moved into my first apartment in February, and now it’s May! In these past few months, I’ve been incredibly busy, very happy, and somehow still getting settled.

Anyway, I wanted to share the best things I got for my first apartment. I feel like so many lists I found while researching before my move were kinda useless or super obvious and vague.

I’m Moving! 10 things to do before hunting for an apartment

First Apartment Advice: Best things to do before looking for an apartment

Hello! Long time no see. So much has happened! I’m moving!

Just last week I signed the lease on my first-ever actual apartment. I lived away for four years while I was in college, but that was on-campus housing…so this is my first apartment with a lease and landlord and all.

I’m moving with my boyfriend (it’s his first official apartment as well) and from finalizing the choice to live together to signing the lease, it took us less than 30 days, which was a lot quicker than we anticipated!

I was just looking through my laptop from 2014 to 2016 or so and I couldn’t believe all of the writings and thoughts and photos I’d completely forgotten about.

I think sometimes we change so gradually and grow so subtly that it’s easy to forget how far we’ve come. Anyway, as another birthday approaches, I’ve started thinking about a few things I’m glad I’ve done. Maybe it’ll inspire you or make you reflect.

Here are things I’m glad I did before 24:

Easy, realistic ways to stay motivated // ew & pt

Staying motivated is never an easy feat, and it’s an especially tricky one when the world seems to be (is?) crumbling during a global pandemic. But even if the world is crumbling, you don’t have to be!

I’m usually pretty good at staying motivated, but I find myself falling into slumps whenever I’m not sure what I’m working toward or why. I LOVE a project with a clear vision or goal, but when I don’t have those things sometimes I find myself giving up or drifting off into a series of “What’s the point?” thoughts.

Sadly, beautiful bullet journals and inspiring Ted Talks do very little for me in terms of setting goals and achieving them.

And so, I’ve gathered some of my best, practical ways to stay motivated in hopes it might help you set and smash some goals… and maybe it’ll help me get back on track, too.
